What Is BREWTANICA™?
A reason to stop tracking your beers in a spreadsheet. You've got your phone with you, and it already has everything you need — a camera, a map, a connection. BREWTANICA™ just helps you use it. Point it at a label and the beer is identified, saved to your journal, and added to an encyclopedia the rest of the world can search.
Why I Built BREWTANICA™
I kept losing track of good beer. I'd have something excellent in another city, tell myself I'd remember it, and then not. Notes app, camera roll, a spreadsheet I stopped updating — none of it survived the trip.
Finding beer abroad was harder still. Landing somewhere new and working out which breweries were worth an afternoon meant a dozen open tabs, reviews written for people who already knew the scene, and a lot of guessing.
So I built the tool I wanted. Scan a label and the beer is on the record — yours, and everyone's. Look up a city and see the breweries people have actually been to.
It's a tool for dads like me. I hope everybody enjoys it.

Ken Gibbs Jr.
Ken Gibbs Jr. has spent more than twenty years at the intersection of culture, technology, and content — helping some of the world's most recognized media brands figure out how to show up, stand out, and actually connect with digital audiences.
His career started at the ground floor of Black digital media, as part of the original team behind Henry Louis Gates' Africana.com, which eventually became AOL Black Voices after making its way through Time Warner. From there, he helped build the digital foundations of brands like iOne Digital and Essence Magazine — including leading digital strategy for the Essence Music Festival — before taking on leadership roles at BET Networks, Amazon Prime Video, Spotify, and Money20/20.
