Brown Ale
Caramel, nuts, and quiet confidence. Comfort in a glass.
The unsung hero of the beer world, brown ales deliver caramel, nuts, and subtle chocolate without demanding attention. English versions stay dry and sessionable; American interpretations add hop character. It's comfort food in liquid form—reliable, warming, and deeply satisfying.

Styles within Brown Ale
Each with its region of origin.
American Brown
USABrown ale with West Coast hop enthusiasm. More bitter, more aromatic hops, similar malt profile. Brooklyn Brown Ale and Dogfish Head Indian Brown show both the restrained and amped-up American takes.
English Brown
United KingdomNewcastle territory. Soft malt, nutty, mild hop bitterness, 4-5% ABV. Southern English browns are sweeter; Northern (Newcastle-style) are drier. Either way, a pub classic that deserves more respect in the American market.
Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkin isn't a family; it rides on the brewer's base, ale or lager, pale to nearly black, 2.5–12% ABV. Some brew with pumpkin or squash, some only with pie spices, many with both. Our shelves hold it in Amber, Brown Ale and Strong Ale. Built for turkey and pumpkin pie.
